Real Estate Price Appreciation in Canada

Did you know that residential housing prices have shown double-digit rates of annual appreciation in almost half of Canadian cities since 1981? Over the 25-year period, the average Canadian total price increase was 264%. Rates of home ownership have also grown, along with the size and quality of our dwellings. Canadians have good reason to believe in the value of their homes, and they are willing to invest accordingly. “Canadians are widely acknowledged to be among the best housed in the world,” CMHC said in its 2006 Housing Report.
