New Options for Accommodating Seniors at Home
- Posted in Real Insights | May 11, 2007
Did you know that one in five Canadians will reach the age of 65 by 2026? Accommodating all these seniors will be a challenge, and one option is called “aging in place.” This refers to the concept of aging in your own home, rather than in a seniors’ residence. If you want to consider aging in place, you need to analyze your environment against your personal needs and limitations. Is your house safe? Will you have the necessary support and services? Is your environment sufficiently flexible to adapt to your changing needs over time? Staying in your own home is a great alternative if you can make it work, and more of today’s construction is built with our aging population in mind. (August 26, 2006)
